Show your support for the Tuapeka Goldfields Museum!

The Clutha District Long Term Plan is open for submissions.  Submitting is easy and can be done online at cluthadc.govt.nz/LTP-consultation.   Paper feedback can be delivered to the Clutha District Library.  Submit your feedback by 5pm on Wednesday 15 May.

If you want to speak to the Councillors in person about your written submission there is a box on the feedback form.   In-person oral submissions are held on 23 and 24 May in Balclutha.

Why does the Museum need my support?
The Tuapeka Goldfields Museum is applying for community funding through the Long Term Plan so our Museum Manager can continue to care for our collection, provide enriching community events, educational visits, and develop new exhibitions

Unfortunately, there is no consistent funding source for the Manager role, leaving it in a perilous state.  This work is too important to be left to chance.  We enable access to information, lifelong learning, cultural expression, and celebration of our heritage.   That’s worth investing in.

Additionally, we are seeking a continuation of our existing funding for Visitor Information services.  We are asking Clutha District Council to maintain the current community grant support that enables us to deliver Visitor Information services, with a slight increase to accommodate rising costs.  Every day, we show people why Lawrence is a vibrant destination to live, work, and play.

How You Can Help

Write a submission to the Clutha District Council Long Term Plan.  Feedback doesn’t need to be long or fancy, a short paragraph will do.  There are two questions where your feedback can help strengthen our submission to the Long Term Plan:

Living & Working: "Have we got our priorities right for the Clutha District?"

Rate "Culture & Heritage" with high importance and add comments.

Growing Tourism

Rate "how important is funding initiatives to grow tourism" highly and add comments.
